Spring Washers

Spring washers are split elastic discs that store mechanical energy under compression, maintaining contact pressure between fastener and joint face under vibration, thermal cycling, and dynamic loading.

Locking Principle: The split ends bite into both the nut bearing face and substrate when compressed, creating a frictional and mechanical barrier that resists backward rotation and progressive loosening under vibrational excitation.

Thermal Cycling Benefit: Spring recovery compensates for small dimensional changes from thermal expansion and contraction, helping maintain clamping preload in joints subject to temperature fluctuation during operation.

Application Scope: Used in automotive assemblies, outdoor machinery, electrical panels, and any joint subject to continuous cyclic loading that would cause conventional flat washers to allow progressive loosening.

Materials and Standards: Produced in spring steel and stainless steel to DIN 127, DIN 128, and ISO 7090 equivalent specifications, with zinc plating and stainless grades for corrosive environments.
