ASME B18.2.6:2019 High Strength Tension Control Button Head Bolt

ASME B18.2.6:2019 High Strength Tension Control Button Head Bolt is suitable for structural joints that need high preload while also requiring a low-protrusion, smooth head profile. The button head reduces external interference and improves local clearance.

The tension-control installation method supports more stable preload control in steel structures, bridge components, equipment supports, and space-limited high-strength nodes. Compared with hex head styles, the button head offers advantages in appearance and clearance.

It should be used with appropriate installation tools, nuts, and washers. Batch consistency, friction-surface condition, and final tightening inspection are important, especially for safety-related structural applications.

  • Now that we've covered bolts, their "perfect partner" — the nut — is much easier to understand. Simply put, a nut is a small metal block or disc with a round hole in the center and internal threads on the wall of that hole. Its core function is to work with an externally threaded bolt to clamp two or more components to...

  • Simply put, a bolt is a cylindrical fastener with external threads. It works with a matching nut or is screwed directly into a threaded hole of the mating part to firmly hold two or more components together. To put it intuitively, think of it as a "metal nail." However, unlike a nail that is driven in with a hammer, a ...
